Relay.app has announced the general availability of its workflow automation product, which combines AI assistance, interactive interactions, and robust multi-user functionality to help teams save time on repetitive tasks. Relay.app was founded by Jacob Bank, who was previously co-founder and CEO of Timeful (acquired by Google in 2015) and then director of product management at Google. The founding team includes product, design, and engineering leaders from Gmail and Google Calendar.
The problem that Relay.app solves—optimizing workflows with tools—is more pressing than ever, as the average company now runs 130 SaaS applications. As applications become more common, the workflow automation market is growing rapidly and is expected to reach $78 billion by 20302. Existing players have excelled at automation that activates in one tool and executes an action in another. But advances in artificial intelligence have created the ability to automate a wider range of use cases. Relay.app allows users to add AI text extraction, summarization, or text generation to any step in their workflow. It’s important to note that Relay.app also includes the ability to double-check the results of automated steps in real time

“While AI tools are becoming more capable every day, human judgment and context play a key role in many workflows. Relay.app gives users the best of both worlds: artificial intelligence to eliminate the drudgery and a human touch where it matters,” shared Relay Founder and CEO Jacob Bank.
Relay’s early customers include fast-growing companies like Ramp, Skyflow, Warp, Motion, Lumos, and Tavus.
Ada handled more than 16.5 million automated customer support conversations across channels in June 2023 alone and discovered that 59% (or 9.8 million) of them featured at least one query that required more personalized action. Rather than a question-based inquiry like inquiring for store hours, corporate policies, or other FAQs, such action-based queries can include reserving an alternate trip or searching up an order status.
“The team’s impressive track record at Google, where they shaped the future of email and calendar tools, is a testament to their experience and technical prowess,” said Christina Shen, general partner at Andreessen Horowitz. “With a unique understanding of how users interact with artificial intelligence, the Relay.app team is poised to change the landscape of productivity tools.”
