Amplience Launches Accelerated Media to Cut Page Load Times, Improving Search Engine Rankings & User Experience

Amplience, an AI content provider, has announced the launch of Accelerated Media, a new picture and video optimisation amplifier feature. Accelerated Media, built on its enterprise-scale digital asset management (DAM) technology, provides a quick path for retailers to strengthen their competitive edge and elevate the consumer experience.

When it comes to preparing for this year’s peak season, retailers are searching for solutions that provide better digital experiences by drastically reducing page load times, which leads to an improvement in Search Engine Optimisation rankings and increased conversion rates. Accelerated media meets these requirements. The new solution, which builds on Amplience’s Smart Images service, supports the most recent media codecs, providing the most efficient file formats available to reduce page load speeds without losing quality.

“We know from research that an eCommerce site that loads in 1 second has a 3x higher conversion rate than a site that loads in 5 seconds, and smaller file sizes directly correlate to page load,” said John Williams, Amplience’s chief technology officer. “Retailers can expect a 50% reduction in file size when using AVIF files through the new Accelerated Media solution compared to JPEG, and a 20% reduction when using AVIF compared to WebP.” These substantial savings do not stop with images: video file sizes using VP9 and H265 will be cut by 40%, allowing retailers to offer the same perceived quality as previously supported formats.”

Accelerated Media offers real-time processing with purposely designed guardrails to balance file size and performance. By selecting image kinds that perform effectively, the quality of perception and page load speeds are not compromised.

“At the most pressurised time of the year during Peak, every millisecond counts to outperform competitors,” Williams stated. “Accelerated Media is well-positioned to improve SEO by responding to search engines that value user experience and prefer faster-loading sites.” Higher rankings boost visibility and organic visitors, while faster-loading sites have lower bounce rates and more transactions.”

Amplience has created accelerated media, which provides rapid increases with minimal alteration. Customers that use Smart Images will be able to use the new codecs as soon as they purchase the amplifier directly from Amplience. Unless it is used by aience clients who do not use Smart Images, a minor FrontEnd Development Change will be necessary for this approach to take effect.
