Gable.ai has announced the development of the first data collaboration framework to allow software and data developers to innovate and manage high-quality data assets. Gable has secured $7M in Seed funding led by Zetta Venture Partners, Crane Venture Capital and Essence Venture Capital. The event also saw participation from angel investors with in-depth knowledge about the New Normal Fund and founders of dbt Labs, Monte Carlo, Hex, Kaggle, Hightouch, and Big Ideas .
In today’s data sharing, it is thrown from being processed into data sets without restrictions or context. While software developers must consider how systems interact with each other for storage and scalability, this level of consideration cannot be extended to the data generated by their systems. However, this data is particularly relevant to business intelligence (BI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. Unfortunately, data comparison is often seen in today’s market, resulting in important data that is not properly organized and subject to change. The division between software and data developers, separated by the ELT/ETL system, also contributes to this problem.
Software developers often don’t know how to detect data corruption, leaving data creators in the dark. This opacity leads to missing important data, lack of semantic context and often broken business data pipelines. The result is a cycle of distrust, repetition of effort, and slowness to innovation. Not surprisingly, IBM estimates negative data costs at US $3.1T per year.
To avoid this problem, Gable.ai has designed a database that bridges the gap between software developers and data teams. In reimagining the shared process from the ground up Gable.ai uses ‘data contract’, an API-based contract between the software developer whose upstream data source and the data manager / person Analyzing the data, to meet the growing need for BI. . and AI in modern business. These agreements are defined, enforced and monitored through Gable.ai. Ideally, a data sharing platform provides context and constraints for data sharing, allowing developers to consider data quality from the start.
“Gable’s vision is to alleviate real market pain by creating a data integration platform,” said Chad Sanderson, CEO & Co-Founder of Gable.ai. “Our mission is to foster a relationship between people responsible for building software and those who manage data. By breaking down the traditional barriers between these groups , it aims to create a more efficient and effective data sharing ecosystem that unlocks the full power of data management technologies.
How Gable.ai Works
Gable.ai provides software and data developers with a platform to prevent disruptive changes to critical data workflows within their existing data infrastructure. Features of the platform:
- Simply connect your data source to recognise data assets.
- Data contract creation to establish data asset owners and set meaningful constraints.
- Data contract enforcement is accomplished through GitHub’s CI/CD checks.
Alongside Sanderson are his co-founders Adrian Kreuziger and Daniel Dicker. The three founders met while leading Convoy’s data division. Together, they designed a complete suite of data products for Convoys and successfully tested a collaborative platform approach using data contracts.
“The launch of Gable.ai marks an important step towards reimagining the data landscape,” said Apoorva Pandhi, Managing Director, Zetta Venture Partners. “The team’s vision, similar to ‘GitHub for data,’ is a fresh approach to the current state of affairs, and we have already been able to pressure test it at scale. We have a proven track record and are rallying behind it. I’m excited to support Gable.ai, a team with a dedicated community.”
Data contracts are a completely distinct group that Gable.ai has successfully established as a new data primitive. Sanderson has spent the last few months creating and growing Data Quality Camp, a Slack community of over 8,000 data practitioners centred on these new concepts. Community conversations and discussions were crucial in building the Gable.ai platform to solve real-world market concerns.
